STUDY OPTIONS

Do check as under the different options you have to study in France. We do apology but for the moment we are just promoting the Postgraduate studies not the undergraduate ones

 1.      Private Master Programme

The French Embassy in Islamabad, in collaboration with Higher Education Commission and SFERE launches its programme for postgraduate studies in France every year in September-October. The growing attraction of Pakistani students towards France, especially in the last 4 years, has led 70 students to start a Master degree in France in 2004

Students for this program will be selected through the Higher Education Commission on the basis of a set merit and interviews with French Professors. Selected candidates will then undergo French language training in Pakistan at a French Cultural Center of their preference. After successful completion of training, selected candidates will then travel to France where they will again take-up an advanced level of training in French enabling them to effectively and efficiently carry out their further studies in French language. Following their language training students will be placed at a University for their post-graduate studies.

Only students holding a first class bachelor degree in the subjects offered are eligible to apply for this program. The student must be holding a 4 year bachelor degree or equivalence / Masters (B.E/ M.Sc/ M.B.B.S) throughout first class.  

FIELDS OF STUDIES

The proposed fields of education are as under. Students may register for any of the following subjects according to their background:

ENGINEERING SCIENCES: Electrical, Chemical, Civil, Mechanical, Information Technology, Computer Sciences, Networks, Aeronautics, Telecommunications, Transports, Material Sciences, Applied Mathematics

BIOTECHNOLOGY AND PUBLIC HEALTH

ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES

ECONOMICS: Business, commerce, macro- & micro-economy

FINANCE: Banking, international finances, financial engineering,

MANAGEMENT SCIENCES: Audit, Project management, company  management, marketing, human resources management

Low Cost

In France, Education is a constitutional right which means that education is free and that no tuition fees are charged to the student. The government pays all general tuition fees whether students are French or not. As for international students, a specific follow up of studies is implemented. It can include extra classes and/ or personal follow up by a professor. Only that cost is charged to the student.

Selection and Processing

The applications are processed by the Higher Education Commission and a merit list is published on the web site to announce the names of selected candidates. In December, final selection of eligible candidates is being made through interviews in English with a French Professor in Islamabad or Karachi. Selection in the program ensures acceptation in a French University.

While learning French in  Pakistan, from January to June, applications are sent by the French authorities to the universities. Each student may usually choose from among 2 to 5 acceptance offers according to the specificity of one’s subject. Students travel to France after the completion of their basic French classes in Pakistan to join an intensive training course in French language in a specialized center in France in the months of July and August .Students then join their University to start their post-graduate studies in September.

2.      The Higher Education Overseas Scholarships

The Higher Education of Pakistan is also offering 2 types of scholarships leading to Ph.D. Priorities area for those scholarships are : Engineering sciences, Pharmaceuticals, Biotechnology, Information Technology, Social Sciences, Economics, Management, Agriculture Sciences, Health Sciences, Basic & Natural Sciences

A.     Faculty member

This Programme is reserved to the Pakistani professors working as permanent employees in any  HEC recognized institution, whether it is public or private. This programme emphasis is being placed on the development of faculty training programs that will enhance the teaching skills, communication skills and subject knowledge of current lecturers at Universities.

B. Open scholarship

The foreign Ph.D. scholarship programs have been developed to develop a research base in areas of key importance to the social and economic development of Pakistan, and in which the relevant facilities are not available inside the country. Here special care is being taken to ensure that the Ph.D. scholars have guaranteed employment on their return to Pakistan as well as sufficient start-up funds to setup a program of research and development in their respective areas of specialization. An innovative feature of the foreign scholarship program is the provision of travel and support funding for the Ph.D. supervisors of the respective scholars to visit Pakistan, as well as, for the scholar to continue interactions with the respective research groups at his alma-mater. The foreign scholarship programs are being concentrated in host countries having advanced standards of education combined with low tuition costs.
