NCA: Admission Eligibility Criteria

National College of Arts: Admission Eligibility for Bachelor programs

Candidates who have passed the Higher Secondary/Intermediate Examination or its equivalent from any recognized institution, with a minimum of second division (45% marks) are eligible to appear for the admission test, for the Department of Fine Art, Faculty of Design, Department of Architecture, Department of Musicology or Department of Film and Television. Students with third division may not apply.

Admission Procedure

The college conducts admission tests which are held in all the provinces of Pakistan. Candidates wishing to join the Department of Fine Art and Faculty of Design are required to obtain high grades in drawing and aptitude tests. Candidates wishing to apply for the Department of Architecture are required to pass an examination in mathematics in addition to the drawing and aptitude test. Those wishing to apply for the Department of Musicology will be required to take only a separate aptitude test.
Candidates successful in the examinations are invited to the College for an interview. Students securing the highest grades in the examinations and interview will be admitted to the College. An Admission Notice is released through major national and regional daily newspapers and full schedules for the submission of applications and the details of the Admission Examinations are specified. Admission examinations are held at the College for candidates from the provinces of Punjab and Azad Kashmir and Northern Areas and at provincial/regional centers for candidates from other areas; e.g. candidates applying from the Frontier, Sindh and Balochistan provinces take their examination in Peshawar, Karachi & Quetta respectively.
All candidates are required to bring their own drawing boards, pens, pencils, erasers and other materials etc, for the examinations. All tests and interviews are conducted in the English language. Paper for drawing and writing will be supplied by the College.

Applying for Admission

All candidates shall apply on the prescribed "Application for Admission" form available from the College on payment. Out-station candidates should add an extra amount for registered Book Post and send the money-order/postal-order addressed to "The Principal, National College of Arts, Lahore". International students should send the appropriate number of International Reply coupons to receive the Prospectus by airmail.
Applications from candidates in the Punjab shall be received by the College Office. Candidates in other provinces of the country should forward their applications to their respective Director of Technical Education. Candidates from Northern areas should send their applications to the Ministry of Education, government of Pakistan for onward transmission to the College.
Azad Jammu & Kashmir candidates should send their applications to the College through the Director of Technical Education, Muzaffarabad.
Attested photostat copies of the following documents must accompany the Application for Admission
  • Higher Secondary/Intermediate 
  • Certificate with details of marks obtained 
  • Documents in support of additional qualification obtained (if any) 
  • Domicile Certificate 
  • Pages 1 to 5 of passport (International Students only) 
  • National Identity Card 
  • Certificate of Father's and / or Guardian's annual income 
  • Five attested passport size recent photographs
  • Bank draft as applicable
Note: Candidates granted admission shall be required to submit other documents as directed, before registration/enrollement in the 1st year (Foundation Course).

International Students

All International students should forward their application forms to their respective embassies in Islamabad. The embassies route their applications to the College through the Ministry of Education. Candidates must forward their applications in time to ensure that the applications are received in the College by the due date.
The decision of the Admission Committee, National of Arts, shall be final in all matters related to all admissions to the College.

Registration

First Year Foundation Course students are required to register at the beginning of the academic year. Failure to complete registration formalities at the appropriate time, including payment of tuition fee and charges, may lead to cancellation of the college enrollment. At registration all students are issued a student identity card.
