Need for Vocational Education

There has been a general dissatisfaction against the prevalent system of education in Pakistan. It has been described as sterile, bookish and examination oriented. Despite many attempts to improve it continued and stick to the line laid down during the British rule. Even the system of Basic Education Sir Sayed Ahmed Khan did not make much headway. Everybody agrees that the recognition of the educational system and the introduction of vocationalisation are necessary.

Worldwide phenomenon

Vocationalisation of education at the school stage is a worldwide phenomenon with more emphasis on it in, the developed countries. The idea is catching up in the developing countries because of the progressive technological advances. These changes demand a manpower equipped with high degree of skills and proficiency in widely diversified fields. Obviously the present system of the general education cannot fulfill the demands of present time.
