Terrorists are extremists

Pakistan has been experiencing the terror of terrorism for over two decades now. Terrorism has become infectious and it is present in one shape or the other in each and every nook and corner of our country. There is insurgency in Balochistan. KP has seen naked dance of terrorism and there is calm now and insurgency in Balochistan is going on non-stop. Even our G.H.Q. has tasted the impact of terrorism.

Terrorists are extremists and they have no faith in the power of negotiation. They want others to concede to their demands or face dire consequences. Considered from any angle terrorism is an activity which calls for severe condemnation.

Magnitude of the problem of terrorism requires drastic measures to curb it once for all. An international consensus is the need of the hour to tackle this e1er-increasing menace which is devouring the very vitals of our society. A number of governments have set-up anti- terrorist squads consisting of commandos fully trained and equipped to deal with the terrorists. The British have their special air service (SAS), West Germany has units of commandos called GSG9 to clip the wings of terrorism. Pakistan too deploys police, military and paramilitary forces to check terrorism. These measures alone can’t give a death blow to this menace. Public opinion must be created against, it and efforts should be made to redress the socioeconomic grievances and the main causes of terrorism. Young blood is the lifeline of terrorism, so let us make efforts to divert this lifeline to some constructive work by constructing a congenial atmosphere where it can find itself totally engrossed in economic activities to make it self-supporting and a prop for other members of society. Introduction of moral education in the school syllabi can go a long way in establishing noble values in the impressionable minds of the young people and that will make them respect human life and then violence will be taboo to them. Let us give it a trial.
