Pakistan Defense Forces: Army PAF and Navy
The Pakistan Defense Forces (پاک مُسَلّح افواج)
are the military forces for the defence of Pakistan. They are the seventh largest in the world. The armed forces comprise three main segments:
- Pakistan Army
- Pakistan Navy
- Pakistan Air Force
The Pakistan Army is the best organized group in the country and is highly respected in civil society and the social ranks as an institution. Since the founding of Pakistan, the army has been key in holding the state together, promoting a feeling of nationhood and providing a bastion of selfless service.
Pakistan Defense Forces are the largest contributors to United Nations peace-keeping efforts in the world, with more than 10,000 personnel deployed in 2007. Other foreign deployments have consisted of Pakistani military personnel as advisers in African and Arab countries.
Commission In Defense Forces
There are two stages of selection for commission in Pakistan Defense Forces:
- Preliminary Selection
- ISSB Tests and Interview

The dates of preliminary tests are advertised by the forces headquarters through the national news papers.
The candidates are required to appear personally at the selection or recruitment centers in major cities. The information may be procured from your respective recruiting office of your city.
Candidates must report at the selection and recruiting centers with the following documents:
- Original Educational Certificates of Metric / Intermediate
- Passport size photographs (four attested one on the front and three on the back)
- Character certificate by the principal
- At least two photo copies of each educational certificate duly attested by the principal or class I gazetted officer
