It retards rust and is used in manufacture of
roofing and siding sheets and plates and copper wire is essential in electrical
equipment.
In Pakistan, the copper deposits are mostly located
in Baluchistan province, almost in the Eruptive Zone of western half of
Baluchistan.
Saindak, Koh Marani (Chagai), Pishin, Sibi, Kalat,
Zhob and Wazirirstan are reported areas with deposits of copper in Pakistan, of
which some detail is available about Saindak copper deposits and they are
estimated to be 412 million tonnes.
In Chagai region Rek dik is another important
copper mine, which has recently discovered and mining work has started.
