About - Dame Bradburys School

The school is located near Saffron Walden in Essex and founded by Dame Johane Bradbury, the wife of a Lord Mayor of London in the early 16th century, as a Christian school for children. It was temporarily closed for six years during the war in 1940. At the end of the war, the Governors reopened the School as a Junior School for children aged 5 to 11, renaming it Dame Johane Bradbury's School. Since 1998, the school has operated as a company limited by guarantee.
