About - Milwards Primary School and Nursery

Milwards Primary School was opened in 1973. The school celebrated their 40 years of service in the community last April 30, 2013. Their Nursery school was opened in September 2000 and the school name changed to Milwards Primary School and Nursery. The school grounds are very attractive and are used for environmental work throughout the school. A small copse, established trees, hedges, a wild area and grass slopes provide a range of habitats to study.

The Governing Body will admit all children attaining the age of 5 during an academic year as one intake in September. A child has the right to a full time place at school from the September following their 4th birthday. Parents can request to defer admission until the child reaches compulsory school age in the school year, thus,the school will put on hold the defer entry and not offer and not offer it to another child. The parent would not, however, be able to defer entry beyond the beginning of the term after the child’s fifth birthday, nor beyond the academic year for which the original application was accepted. Parents may also request that their child attends part time until the child reaches statutory school age.
