About - St Andrews C of E Primary School Weely

In 1867 St Andrew’s C of E Primary School was opened and founded by the Church of England to provide an education according to Anglican principles and practices. In 1810 a schoolroom was built in The Street and this was used until 1865 when the Squire of Weeley donated the present site. Over the years, we are proud to say that pupils from the school have had considerable success in gaining places at the two selective grammar schools in Colchester.

St Andrews C of E Primary School Weely admit children in the September following their 4th birthday, subject to the availability of places without reference to ability or aptitude. Processing and submission of application form is through the Local Authority of Essex on specified closing date. Supplementary Form must be completely filled-up and returned to the school. Parents can request to defer admission until the child reaches compulsory school age in the school year, thus,the school will put on hold the defer entry and not offer and not offer it to another child. The parent would not, however, be able to defer entry beyond the beginning of the term after the child’s fifth birthday, nor beyond the academic year for which the original application was accepted. Parents opting to take up a part time place until child reach compulsory school age must arrange schedule with the school. Parents applying for a place at the school in a year group other than Reception are required to apply directly to the local authority.
