About - St Francis Catholic Primary School Maldon

In 1957 ,St Francis Catholic Primary School is founded by the Franciscan Sisters as an Independent School. Later in 1976 it became Voluntary Aided school under the joint trusteeship of the Brentwood Diocese and the Franciscan Order. The school erected new buildings where first one was opened in 1963 and the other one was during 1981 and been extended in 1995.

The standard number which the governors intend to admit is 30. The number to admit in Key Stage 2 is an additional 3 to a maximum of 33 pupils per class. Children born on and between 1st September 2008 and 31st August 2009 would normally commence primary school in Reception in the academic year beginning in September 2013. All children offered a place for the full time admission in the reception year group from the September following their fourth birthday. Parents can request to defer admission until the child reaches compulsory school age in the school year, thus,the school will put on hold the defer entry and not offer and not offer it to another child. The parent would not, however, be able to defer entry beyond the beginning of the term after the child’s fifth birthday,nor beyond the academic year for which the original application was accepted. Morning session only is available for parents opting to take up a part time place until child reach compulsory school age . Where parents choose to defer entry, the school may reasonably expect that the child would start at the beginning of a new school term/half term.
