About - St Josephs Catholic Primary School Canvey Island

St Joseph's Catholic Primary School was founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1955, to serve the Catholic population of Canvey Island and Benfleet. When the school opened it was staffed entirely by Sisters, but in 1994 Sister Veronica who had been headteacher since 1966, retired and the school was handed over to the trusteeship of the Diocese of Brentwood. There are seven good sized classrooms each with their own cloakroom and toilet facilities as well as extensive grounds, including a large playing field and two playgrounds. The school is part of the Canvey schools' partnership and has been awarded the Activemark.

The closing date for applications will be 15th January 2014. Late applications received will be given lowest priority unless parents who have moved into the area can demonstrate that they could not have applied earlier. The number intended to admit for September 2014 is 30. Applications for admission are welcomed from parents or guardians who desire their children to have a Catholic education. Preference will be given to children an accordance to set priority of orders.v>
