Multiplying And Dividing Fractions

Multiplication and division are basic operation on fractions worth learning. With knowing these two operations one cannot solve many questions on the test.

Proper and Improper Fractions

If the numerator is greater than the denominator, the fraction is improper. If the numerator is less than the numerator then the fraction is proper.

To multiply fractions, multiply across.

 

Multiply numerator by numerator and denominator by denominator.

Mixed Fraction

A fraction having a whole number attached with the fractional part is a mixed fraction. A mixed fraction must be converted to improper fraction before going into the operations of multiplication and division.
