About - Downe Primary School

Downe Community Primary School is situated near the centre of the village in High Elms Road. The original school building dates from 1906 with a large modern extension added in 1973. In Summer 2004 a new modular classroom was added that further increased the classroom accommodation. We now have 4 classrooms with a dedicated space for the reception children. In addition we have a support room which is used for group work and a further room which is used for art and craft, technology and cooking.

Where schools are oversubscribed places will be offered in line with the admission criteria such as Distance will be measured (in a straight line) from the front door of the child’s home address (including flats) to the main entrance of the school building, using the Local Authority’s computerised measuring system, with those living closer to the school receiving the higher priority.
