About - St John the Baptist CE VA Primary School

The present school building was open in 1967 to serve the three villages of Pebmarsh, Lamarsh and Alphamstone. St John the Baptist takes its position as a church school seriously and prides itself on the family ethos and links with the local community.

St John the Baptist provides for the full-time admission of all children offered a place in the reception year group from the September following their fourth birthday. Parents can request to defer admission until the child reaches compulsory school age in the school year, thus,the school will put on hold the defer entry and not offer and not offer it to another child. The parent would not, however, be able to defer entry beyond the beginning of the term after the child’s fifth birthday, nor beyond the academic year for which the original application was accepted. Where parents choose to defer entry, the school may reasonably expect that the child would start at the beginning of a new school term. Parent whose children not been allocated a place can appeal through writing to the Chair of Governors at St. John the Baptist School.
