About - William Martin Church of England Controlled Infant and Nursery School

In the year of 1958 and 1959 the present building was opened carrying forward the name of William Martin. The School, which is legally owned by the Trustees, is a Church Foundation and is controlled by the Local Education Authority, which has full financial responsibility for its maintenance. The Church of England remain represented on the Governing Body and helps foster links between the School, the Church and the local community. The main school building includes the nursery, reception and two Key Stage 1 classes. There is a large school hall which is used for assembly, P.E. dinners and a range of other activities. There is also a combined computer and library area.

From the term after your child is 3 years old they are entitled to 15 hours free early education. Offers of places are made in June and November, dependent on availability. Application forms for the nursery are available from the school office and should be completed and returned to the school. For reception , the school admissions policy is to admit 60 children in September whose fifth birthday falls between September and August. All admission processing is dealth with Local Authority. Children starting Reception are invited to a series of visits in the summer term before they start in September.
