Lesson: Data Sufficiency Challenging - 15

Find The Concept Behind The Question

There was very little calculation in the last two questions. But they were tough questions nevertheless. Why? Because they were testing concepts rather than mechanics and most test-takers don’t think about the question before they jump headlong into the statements. But remember, at this level you can’t afford to go into the statements completely unarmed. Take a moment to get your bearings and figure out the concept behind the question. This almost always makes deciphering the statements much easier.

Remember to ask yourself, "Are there any relevant exceptions?"

Now that we’ve seen some tough content, let’s look at some questions where the math is relatively simple, but the context is challenging.
