About - Fawbert and Barnards Primary School Old Harlow

In 1836, a school was founded by a charitable trust under a provision contained in the will of George Fawbert. The school was called Fawbert and Barnard’s Undenominational School. It was in 1891 under the Free Education Act where Government Grant is needed to support the school and extend the building , it took its status as Voluntary Controlled school. During 1985 the school became modernised where new attractive hall was built and further extended in 2008.

All children are admitted full-time at beginning of September. parents were informed in a staggered start for pupil in first 4 weeks to enable them time to settle and familiarised. All application for admission and registration is under Essex County Council Loca Education Authority. New Entrants children is invited to attend induction session before starting full time prior to admission. There is no guarantee of a place for children living in the priority admission area. In the event of oversubscription places will be allocated in accordance to the set criteria in a priority order. In the event of oversubscription within any of the above criteria, priority will be determined by straight line distance from home to school, those living closest being given the highest priority except for medical circumstances that may override the criteria other than looked after children.
