A triangle has three sides and is made of straight lines. A triangle may be classified by how many of its sides are of equal length. Or, it may be classified by what kind of angles it has. The three angles always add to 180 degrees.

Test-makers love triangles. Not only do standardized exams always test triangles, but they test triangles more often than they test any other geometrical shape. The popularity of this shape means that a solid understanding of a few basic concepts can go a long way on test day.

There are a few special triangles that you'll see again and again on your standardized exam, but first let's begin with the basics :
