Lesson: Sentence Correction Challenging - 21

Stylistic Errors, continued

1. Redundancy

If a sentence expresses the same idea more than once, then the sentence is poorly written and could be improved. Consider this sentence:

Alexander moved the boxes quickly and with great speed.

If he moved the boxes with great speed, then you already know that he moved them quickly. The correct answer choice would remove "quickly" or "with great speed."

Beware of redundancy in the original sentences and in answer choices; it's a common stylistic error.
