What Difficult Problem Solving Questions Test

At the most difficult levels, Problem Solving questions involve more than simple calculation. Once you've demonstrated to the computer that you can handle straightforward math problems that test basic concepts, the test will try to gauge your limits by throwing increasingly tricky and complex Problem Solving questions at you. These questions test the following skills:

  • your mastery of more complex math concepts—can you avoid common pitfalls?
  • your creativity with more complex math concepts—how flexible are you with what you know?
  • your ability to make deductions and spot connections—can you pick up on subtleties?
  • your ability to pick apart dense information—you get to the heart of the matter?
