Advanced Geometry: Multiple Figures & Solids

The more basic geometry questions you will see on Test Day will require the use of a single formula, or will hinge on knowing a key geometric fact. Difficult geometry questions are just the opposite—they contain multiple figures and three-dimensional solids, and therefore test multiple concepts.

In the most challenging geometry problems, there is often a lot of information to manage, and the best starting point is not always clear. But remember—geometry is all about relationships among figures, features, and formulas. So when faced with a multiple figure question, or a tough solids problem, ask yourself the following questions:

1. What is the question asking us to find?
2. What information has it provided to us?
3. What shared feature will get us to the correct answer?

Let's try this on a multiple figures example.
