Inference Questions, continued

If you're having trouble with an inference question, keep in mind that a good inference does all of the following:

• Stays in line with the gist of the passage
• Stays in line with the author's tone
• Stays in line with the author's point of view
• Stays within the scope of the argument or the main idea
• Is neither denied by, nor irrelevant to, the argument or discussion
