Pick numbers on problems involving remainders.
A question like this may seem very abstract at first. But you can simplify it by picking values for m and n that are easy to work with and that satisfy the limitations of the question.
If m and n are positive integers, m divided by 7 leaves a remainder of 2, and n divided by 7 leaves a remainder of 5, what is the remainder when mn is divided by 7?
m =
n =
m = 7 + 2 = 9 n = 7 + 5 = 12
So mn = 9 12 = 108 and 108 ΒΈ 7 = 15, remainder 3. Choice (C) is the answer.
