Even before you begin an algebra problem, you have to be sure that you understand what the problem is asking. This is relatively easy when the problem is written in math:
But what about when the problem is written in English?

What number is 16 more than the product of itself and six?
Standardized tests will often ask you to translate English words into algebraic expressions. Let’s see how this is done.
