When you have two variables and two equations, there are two ways to solve the problem. The first method we’ll discuss is the combination method.

If you have two variables in two equations (or as it’s sometimes called, a system of equations), you can solve for one variable by combining the equations.

When you combine two equations, line up the equations and add the two together or subtract one from the other.
